
Elizabeth (Liz) Martin is a crisis and post-conflict specialist with over 20 years of experience designing and directing stabilization, peacebuilding, and humanitarian programs across Syria, Yemen, Haiti, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and South Sudan. Elizabeth brings deep technical expertise from her roles in the U.S. Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance, Office of Transition Initiatives, and the Office of Conflict Management and Mitigation. At Chemonics, she has led conflict and crisis initiatives globally, including serving as Team Lead and Director of the $75 million UK-funded Syria Education Programme, Director of the Yemen Peacebuilding Programme, and Director of the $90M Syria Regional Program. Her work has ranged from the delivery of humanitarian assistance in complex crises to supporting authorities and donors navigate the transition from relief to development. She brings field-tested leadership in volatile environments. Liz holds an M.A. from Johns Hopkins University.
