Director John Thissen

John Thissen is a public finance management specialist with more than 20 years of experience in tax policy, revenue estimation, and forecasting, and impact analysis. He is currently a director in the Europe and Eurasia region and manages the USAID Public Financial Management IQC. John has developed the capacity of the public sector to support economic policy and has also improved macroeconomic forecasting strategies using econometrics software. In addition, he has provided support to fiscal management projects and audits that help countries measure up to international accounting standards. John’s experience spans fiscal and economic reform, international accounting standards, and macroeconomic policy in countries such as the Philippines, Russia, and Egypt. John has an M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from the University of Kansas.
