Burundi Country Director, GHSC-PSM Cheikh Gassama

Cheikh Gassama has more than 20 years of experience in project and finance management for health programs and in the private sector in West and East Africa, including more than 10 years of experience supporting USAID projects and Global Fund grants. Most recently, Mr. Gassama managed the global USAID Leadership Management and Governance project which collaborated with health leaders, managers, and policy-makers at all levels to show that investments in leadership, management, and governance leads to stronger health systems, and improved health for all. Currently, Mr. Gassama is the country director for the USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program–Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project in Burundi. He holds a M.A. in international development from Laval University in Canada, and two M.A. degrees, in finance and economics, from Cheikh Anta Diop University in Senegal.
