Chief of Party, Lebanon Agriculture and Rural Empowerment (ARE) Activity Brian King

Brian King is currently the chief of party for USAID’s Agriculture and Rural Empowerment Activity (ARE) in Lebanon. He is an senior international development professional with more than 18 years of experience leading economic growth programming focused on agriculture and rural development, competitiveness and market development, sustainable tourism, microfinance, information technology, and entrepreneurship promotion. Previously, Brian served as Chemonics’ chief of party for USAID’s Zrda (“Growth”) Activity, USAID’s flagship rural development program in Georgia that supports agriculture and tourism as key drivers of regional economic growth. Prior to joining Chemonics, he served in senior field leadership positions for international non-governmental organizations in Myanmar, Tajikistan, Liberia, and Romania. He started his development career as a community economic development volunteer with the Peace Corps in Romania. Brian holds a MS.c. in applied environmental economics from the University of London and a B.A. in economics from the University of Virginia.
