Education Technical Director Alison Pflepsen
Alison Pflepsen is an education practitioner with 15 years of experience designing, managing, and providing technical leadership to support improved education outcomes in low-income country contexts. As education technical director, Ms. Pflepsen supports Chemonics’ early grade learning programs globally, facilitating knowledge sharing and application of evidence-based best practices. Prior to joining Chemonics, Ms. Pflepsen was the reading program specialist for the USAID Reading within Reach (REACH) initiative and the Global Reading Network (GRN), where she developed resources, designed and delivered professional development opportunities, and fostered information sharing among diverse partners to improve the teaching and learning of primary grade reading. Before supporting the GRN, Ms. Pflepsen worked at RTI International for six years developing, implementing, and evaluating early grade reading improvement initiatives.
Ms. Pflepsen has an M.S. in Development Management, with a focus on international education. She has extensive experience working and living in sub-Saharan Africa, including serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Senegal and Namibia. She speaks French, Pulaar, and Spanish.
