News: Chemonics Joins U.K. Development Community at Bond Conference

| 2 Minute Read

From March 18 to 19, Chemonics will join the 2019 Bond Conference, which convenes more than 1,000 international development practitioners to share technical and management approaches for effective crisis response and development impact.

The 2019 Bond Conference brings together NGO, civil society, research, donor, and private sector representatives to share ideas and explore emerging trends in international development and humanitarian assistance. Hosted in London March 18 and 19, this year’s conference focuses on themes such as public-private partnerships, alternative funding, policy, leadership, and inclusivity.

As part of its participation, Chemonics will sponsor the conference’s Networking Zone, which will feature “speed networking” — an opportunity for attendees to meet with selected organizations at timed intervals. Multiple representatives from Chemonics’ U.K. Division will be on hand to share knowledge during these one-on-one conversations. They will also be available to discuss opportunities for partnering with U.K. development and humanitarian organizations, particularly U.K.-based NGOs and small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

“Partners from the full spectrum of organizations in the international development and humanitarian sectors help inform our approach to program design, delivery, learning, and adaptation. By working collaboratively and leveraging the strengths of different partners, such as SMEs, NGOs, and academia, we can deliver higher quality and more sustainable development programming. We can act more swiftly, efficiently, and inclusively to address the human impact of crisis and conflict,” said U.K. Division Senior Vice President Jeff Wuorinen. “We’re excited to learn from fellow practitioners at Bond and share how we’ve addressed difficult situations and complex operational environments throughout our 40-plus years of experience. We look forward to forging new relationships along the way.”

In 2018, Chemonics formed its U.K. Division to support program development and delivery for its work with the Department for International Development and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Chemonics’ presences at Bond is one way in which it is responding to the U.K. International Development Secretary’s June 2018 call to connect with local businesses in “every region of the U.K. who are keen to bring their expertise and skills to help the world’s poorest.”
