Short-term education assistant l Injaz l Germany l 2018

Chemonics seeks a short-term education assistant based in Berlin, Germany, for the Injaz project, an ongoing, early-grade education and grants program in Syria. The education assistant will support the organizing and delivery of remote training sessions; follow up with local partners; and assist in reporting, monitoring and evaluation.  The education assistant will participate in training activities across all Injaz sub-awards. The assignment will take place over 12 months. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support the organizing and delivery of remote training sessions on remedial education programs and teaching strategies to local partners’ staff, including trainers, teachers, and formal educators
  • Maintain documentation for all completed training sessions and draft training reports for review by the PSS senior program officer
  • Support local partners in developing lesson plans and academic year calendar, child progress report management, and education programs management
  • Follow up with local partners on the progress of educational programs in accordance with the Injaz child progress tracker
  • Assist in preparing M&E documentation including drafting the weekly and quarterly reports, and in responding to the donors’ RFIs
  • Conduct regular meetings with local partners’ teachers to follow technical implementation and the progress of education programs
  • Coordinate with the Injaz M&E team to track data collection per child
  • Remotely attend training sessions conducted by local partners’ trainers


  • Must have legal work authorization in Berlin, Germany
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • At least three years of experience in formal or non-formal education
  • Ability to prioritize, work well under pressure, and work within a team to meet strict and tight deadlines
  • Positive attitude and eagerness to learn
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office programs
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Excellent command of Arabic and English
