We have established and managed early warning, geographical information, and other data and monitoring systems to prevent food disasters and mitigate their harmful impacts through informed policymaking, humanitarian response, and advance planning.

We help policymakers and communities “future-proof” agriculture livelihoods and food supply.

Chemonics designs and implements strategies that strengthen the agriculture sector’s resilience to diverse shocks. We work with policymakers, agribusinesses, and associations to incentivize the uptake of climate-resilient agriculture practices; support supply efficiencies to limit risk points in value chains and reduce food loss; and design and facilitate utilization of crop insurance products. We support food supply continuity through value chain partnerships and financing during times of market shock, and advise public sector leaders and community partners on advance planning of alternate trade routes, food reserves, and crisis response.

We work through food system partners to tackle malnutrition.

Chemonics design and implements nutrition-sensitive agriculture programs that increase the availability and consumption of diverse, nutrient-rich foods while strengthening food safety standards from farm to fork. Our work ranges from improving access to nutrient-dense crops and livestock at the household and community level to increasing adoption of healthy diets and hygiene habits through multifaceted strategic communications strategies. We combine behavior change communications, local food systems development, and policy reform to address both immediate and systemic drivers of malnutrition.
