Chemonics Unveils Global Alumni Program

In February 2010, a new online alumni site began reaching former Chemonics employees worldwide. The site is designed to serve as a powerful networking tool and features company news, forums, career center, and opportunities to connect with former colleagues.

Chemonics has launched ChemLinks, its global alumni program, in February 2010 to connect with its former employees. ChemLinks is a unique social networking platform that connects former employees, current staff, and the company, and builds on our shared commitment to development, Chemonics, and one another.

ChemLinks offers a variety of features, including access to company news, the opportunity to connect with past and present colleagues, discussion forums and event listings, as well as a career center for finding jobs and business opportunities. Features will spotlight what alumni are doing now and how current employees are serving the company.

The site is designed to serve as a powerful networking tool that will create a resource pool of knowledgeable development professionals, expand partnerships for new business development, and enhance a sense of community. Members join through invitation from current members — to start building the community, Chemonics sent invitations to former employees.

“In today's economy, maintaining relationships with former employees is becoming a discrete talent management discipline for many organizations,” said Darlene Andrews, director of recruitment management and alumni programs. “These relationships drive value to our business in the areas of rehiring, business development, and knowledge sharing. Until now, we have not tried to centrally maintain, locate, and leverage these relationships that are vital to our business.”

Chemonics created the site using a platform designed by SelectMinds, a leading provider of corporate social networking solutions.
