Chemonics Mourns the Death of Afghan Staff Member

Chemonics is deeply saddened to announce the death in 2010 of a member of the Afghanistan Stabilization Initiative/South (ASI/S) project.

​Chemonics is deeply saddened to announce the death of a member of the Afghanistan Stabilization Initiative/South (ASI/S) project. 

 

The staff member was killed on August 21, 2010, outside his home in Lashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand Province in Southern Afghanistan. Chemonics is committed to supporting the victim’s family in this time and to ensuring the safety and security of our staff, both expatriate and Afghan national.

 

Chemonics’ security team is working with government officials in support of this investigation and to help enhance security for all of our staff in the area. Eric Reading, senior vice president for stabilization and governance-Afghanistan, is traveling to Afghanistan to meet with the teams.

 

“We mourn for our staff member and the family he leaves behind,” said Chemonics President and CEO Richard Dreiman. “He devoted himself to making Afghanistan a better, safer place. I extend our deepest sympathies to his loved ones.”  

 

 

Funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), ASI/S works to bring stability to Afghanistan by creating conditions that build confidence between communities and the government through the improvement of the economic and social environment of the region.
