Serving Our Community
Throughout the year, we participate in volunteer and fund-raising events. In the spring, we participate in Servathon through Greater DC Cares. Servathon is a series of meaningful service projects that benefits nonprofits and schools in Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Maryland that need support. Whether it is painting schools or delivering meals to the homeless or sick, Chemonics employees come together to make a difference in our community.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, we have raffle sales, educational seminars about personal health, a health fair, and even a few bake sales. All of the work for this month-long event is volunteer-based, and all funds raised are donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation to fight breast cancer.
In November, we have Pie Day, when we order dozens of pies from Slice of Life, a local subsidiary of Food & Friends, which uses the profit from selling pies to donate food for those with terminal illnesses. Additionally, we run a food drive through Food & Friends, an organization that delivers meals to people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan community.
Chemonics also participates in disaster relief programs assisting those who are affected by natural disasters and crises.
