Rwandan Agribusiness Development Project

Once a small-scale civil engineer, Christian Kaningu is today a key coffee player in Rwanda. Owner of the Kayco wet mill—one of the few coffee stations in the country that produces a high quality fully washed product—Christian is now selling specialty coffee to Starbucks. Chrysologue Kubwimana and Jean-Bosco Seminega also discuss how they became involved in Rwanda’s coffee export industry.

Christian, Chrysologue, and Jean-Bosco are among the fifty individuals who have benefited from technical assistance provided by the Rwandan Agribusiness Development Project. As result of project initiatives, there are now 150 washing stations in Rwanda producing internationally recognized coffee.
